Battling Body Pain: Quick Tips for Easing Back Injuries

Lower back pain injuries are often associated with the movements above. Those most at risk include truck drivers, warehouse personnel, construction workers, skilled laborers, maintenance personnel, heavy manufacturing workers, and nurses. If you are regularly moving heavy items or remain in a single position for most of the day you are more likely to develop lower back pain. Lower back pain disorders are divided into two major diagnostic categories, and can often overlap:
Disorders involving irritation of peripheral nerves within, or as they meet the spinal canal. These tend to cause chronic pain.
Disorders involving soft tissue connecting segments together. These tend to cause acute pain and heal quickly.
In order to treat minor back pain the first thing you should do is rest. Avoid continuing the movement or body position that causes your back pain to flare up. Find a comfortable posture in a relaxing spot and stay there. Apply ice for 10-15 minutes every hour. Taking a mild, over-the-counter analgesic such as aspirin in Anacin® Regular Strength Tablets will further help to ease your pain. These tablets contain caffeine for fast pain relief.
It’s important not to further aggravate irritated and sore muscles or nerves because they will not get the proper chance to heal. It can be hard to stay off your feet for extended periods of time, especially if you are used to being active, but remember that your body needs some time off and pain is its way of telling you to rest.
